Opening Ceremony and Award

The lecture of Universiti Malaya, Dr. Fazli Abdul Aziz hosted the opening ceremony of the 18th ICMSEM on Aug. 6 and Aug.7, 2024, at 09:00 a.m. (Malaysia time). On behalf of the co-organizers, the honorary professor of Universiti Malaya, Prof. Dr. Noor Azina Ismail, Department of Decision Science, Universiti Malaya, gave the warm welcome to the university and most sincere wishes for a successful conference.
The general chair and the president of ISMSEM, Prof. Dr. Dr. Jiuping Xu at Sichuan University, presented sincere appreciation to the co-organizers for their perfect work, and the warm welcome to all conference participants.
The professor of the Department of Industrial Engineering, Universiti Malaya, Prof. Dr. Yusniza Kamarulzaman, and the head of the Department of Decision Science, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suhana Mohezar Ali, expressed sincere thanks to all the participants for their contributions to the academic research, as well as to all the members who had worked hard to prepare for the conference.
The 2024 Advancement Prize for MSEM was also awarded during the opening ceremony. The prizes were rigorously selected from the recognized 116 full papers as valid entries from 334 submissions by 25 jury boards consisting of Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Canada, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Laos, Mexico, Moldova, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, the UK, the USA and Vietnam. It was observed that some of the submissions have a team of researchers from both developed as well as developing countries.

2024 ICMSEM Prize

Keynote Speeches

Eight keynote speakers from Moldova, Azerbaijan, Spain, Malaysia, Canada, Morocco, USA, South Africa, have given the plenary reports on Aug. 6 and Aug. 7. In view of the understandings on management science and engineering management, these keynote speakers stated the frontiers of their research, which triggered a heated discussion among the participants.

Forum: AI-enabled OR Education and Teaching Practice

AI-enabled Operations Research (OR) Education and Teaching Practice refers to the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into the teaching and learning of Operations Research.  This approach leverages AI tools to enhance the educational experience by providing personalized learning, automating complex calculations, and offering data-driven insights.

Forum: AI-driven OR Methodology and Applications

AI-driven Operations Research (OR) Methodology and Applications involve the use of artificial intelligence to enhance traditional OR techniques and solve complex decision-making problems.  By integrating AI, OR methodologies can handle large-scale data, uncover hidden patterns, and optimize processes more efficiently.  This approach is applied across various industries, including logistics, finance, healthcare, and manufacturing, where AI algorithms improve forecasting, resource allocation, and operational efficiency.  AI-driven OR not only advances the analytical capabilities of traditional methods but also enables the development of innovative solutions for emerging challenges in a data-rich environment.

Forum: AI-aided Scientific Journal Report

With the booming of AI technology, every aspect of our life and work are facing disruptive changes. Evaluation of scientific journals is of critical significance to promote the development of academic platforms. International Academic Alliance of Management Science and Engineering Management has been publishing scientific journals reports in related fields for eight consecutive years since 2017 which has attracted widespread attention and citation. This presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of the research process and analysis of results in the latest editions of scientific journals report. In this report, we innovatively leverage AI-aided technology to assist in filtering the attributes, determining the weights, and tuning the results of the relevant sensitivity analyses. With the guarantee of openness of the raw data, transparency of the calculation process and traceability of the analysis results, AI technology has made our work more scientific and sophisticated. The highlights of this presentation are summarized as follows: (1) The history and process of scientific journal reports of management science in engineering will be reviewed; (2) An AI-aided evaluation framework of scientific journals report will be defined; (3) The impact of AI-aided technology on the analytical results will be demonstrated and discussed.
